RSS LinkHow Big is Your God? (1 of 52)
Life has a way of making God small in our eyes. We go through painful times, or get busy and focused on the details of life, or we become overly-impressed with ourselves and think we are in fact the center of the universe. There are many things that can make God seem small, and at the same can often seem to make our problems big. Genesis 1 helps us to lift up our eyes, see the enormity of God, and trust him in the difficult times of life.
Jesus Swings the Gate Open (3 of 5)
While our sin keeps the gate shut, it is hinged on the post of God's love, and the latch is released by the work of Christ on the cross. But there is only one gate that leads to life; God does not have any other son apart from Jesus Christ.
Don’t Run from Pain
What do you do when pain comes? The fact of the matter is that pain -- physical, emotional, spiritual -- is one of the greatest tools the Lord has to conform us to the image of his Son, to grow us up spiritually. The absence of pain is not God’s greatest good; I don’t see it listed anywhere in the Bible as a good thing. The goal of life is to grow in the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) and so grow into the likeness of Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18). Pain helps us do this.
The Latch (2 of 5)
To continue the imagery of the gate, the latch on the gate keeps it shut. Pull as hard as we wish, we can't open the gate. But as we'll see, God is willing to reach down and unlatch the gate for us, so we can walk through. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
Does Ephesians 4:29 Apply to Blogs?
Ephesians 4:29 says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (NIV). Could Paul actually mean that? Are we really never to gossip or slander or judge another person? If so, then why is this one of the most rarely obeyed verses in the Bible?
